If you deal with seasonal allergies, food sensitivities, or unexplained reactions, you may have heard of NAET (This is short for Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques).
What Is NAET?
Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad developed NAET in the 1980s. It combines several approaches. For example, it uses:
- Traditional Chinese Medicine
- Acupuncture and acupressure
- Muscle testing (applied kinesiology)
- Chiropractic ideas
NAET focuses on how the body reacts to substances. These may include:
- foods
- pollen or dust
- chemicals
- other triggers
Most treatments focus on symptoms. In contrast, NAET focuses on the body’s response.
How Does NAET Work?
Practitioners believe the body sometimes misreads a substance as harmful. Because of this, the immune system overreacts. This can lead to sneezing, congestion, itchy skin or eyes, digestive discomfort and fatigue.
In general, NAET follows a simple process.
Step 1: Identify Sensitivities
First, the practitioner looks for sensitivities. In many cases, they use muscle testing.
During this step:
- You hold a vial with a substance (or the potential allergen)
- The practitioner tests your muscle strength
- They look for changes in response
Practitioners use these changes as clues. In addition, some may use tools like a pendulum.
Step 2: Begin Treatment
Next, the practitioner begins treatment. They stimulate specific acupuncture or pressure points. At the same time, you stay in contact with the substance.
The goal is to:
- support balance in the body
- reduce overreaction
- help the immune system respond more calmly
Step 3: Allow Integration
After treatment, you avoid the substance for about 25 hours. This step matters because the body needs time to adjust. Practitioners address one sensitivity at a time. Therefore, you may need several sessions.
What Do People Use NAET For?
People try NAET for many reasons. For example:
- seasonal allergies
- food sensitivities
- environmental triggers
- chemical sensitivities
- sinus issues
- digestive discomfort
